Information collected during checkout
Beacon collects the information needed to process and fulfill public event purchases and donations. This can include purchaser name, email address, phone number when provided through Stripe Checkout, billing address, attendee names or emails, cart contents, donation notes, payment amount, order identifiers, and Stripe payment identifiers.
Beacon may also process technical information such as IP address, request timing, browser or device details, security logs, and checkout status events. This information helps operate checkout, prevent fraud, troubleshoot errors, and maintain reliable payment records.
How information is used
Checkout information is used to process payments, create event orders, issue receipts, manage attendee admission, support refund or cancellation requests, reconcile accounting records, prevent fraud, and respond to disputes or legally required requests.
Beacon does not use public checkout information to send unrelated marketing messages unless a separate lawful consent or relationship permits that communication.
Payment data
Card details are handled by Stripe. Beacon stores limited payment metadata such as payment status, amount, card brand, last four digits when available, processor reference IDs, and refund references. Beacon does not store full card numbers or card security codes.
Sharing with organizations and processors
The organization hosting the event or receiving the donation can access transaction details needed to fulfill the purchase, run the event, provide support, and maintain financial records. Beacon shares payment data with Stripe and may share records with service providers that help operate email, receipt, database, hosting, logging, fraud prevention, or support systems.
Beacon does not sell public checkout personal information. Beacon may disclose information when required by law, to protect the checkout service, to investigate fraud or security issues, or to respond to payment disputes and card-network evidence requests.
Retention
Beacon keeps transaction and support records for as long as reasonably needed for event operations, accounting, tax, audit, legal, fraud-prevention, and dispute-response purposes. Organizations may have additional retention obligations for charitable, tax, or accounting records.
Your choices
Contact payment support to request help with access, correction, deletion, or privacy questions. Some records may need to be retained where required for accounting, legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute defense, or payment processing.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under state, federal, or international privacy laws. Beacon and the organization will review applicable requests based on the transaction, the organization involved, and legal retention requirements.
Stripe and other services
Stripe processes payment information under its own terms and privacy notices. When you use Stripe Checkout, Stripe may collect and process information directly to complete payment, prevent fraud, comply with law, and operate its payment services.
Payment support
For payment, refund, or cancellation questions, email [email protected] or visit payment support.
